Few brands own winter the way Moncler does. Its 2026 has been busy: a show on a mountain, a collection built from its own archive and a new person in charge of the business. Here is what happened.
A show in the snow
On 31 January, Moncler Grenoble, the brand's performance line, showed its autumn/winter 2026 collection outdoors at the T-Lazy-7 Ranch in Aspen, Colorado. The Aspen Times reported that the collection drew on the Colorado landscape and mid-century American style, with waxed cotton, tweed, shearling and loden, Aspen leaf graphics and map-inspired prints.
Silhouettes nodded to the 1950s with cinched waists, and the brand showed a snowboard in a new colourway co-designed with Shaun White's WHITESPACE label. The same weekend, Moncler opened its Aspen flagship.
Re/Icons: four classics, reworked
In October the focus moved to the archive. Re/Icons 2026 revisits four pieces from the brand's history: the Karakorum, an expedition parka from 1954, the Verone puffer from the 1980s, the Himalaya and the Tibb, a reversible oversized gilet.
According to Designscene, the collection goes beyond outerwear, adding windbreakers, tees, trousers, skirts, beanies, balaclavas and sunglasses, along with a book called Alpine Diary. It went on sale worldwide on 15 October, a day after it landed at the Fifth Avenue store in New York.
The campaign is fronted by Jennie, Cher and Grace Jones. Jennie wears a black Karakorum and a caramel Tibb gilet, Cher the Himalaya in white and the Verone in black, and Grace Jones the Karakorum in deep purple.
A change at the top
Behind the scenes, the company changed leadership. Bartolomeo Rongone, previously chief executive of Bottega Veneta, became CEO of Moncler Group on 1 April 2026. Remo Ruffini, who built the modern Moncler, moved to executive chairman and keeps the creative direction.
The business is not immune to a difficult market. In October the group reported third quarter revenue flat at 605.5 million euros, with nine month revenue of 1.90 billion euros, up 6 percent at constant exchange rates. Asia grew while Europe softened.
What we take from it
Moncler's year shows something every brand can learn from. Its most talked about collection this autumn was not a new idea. It was four old ones, made again with care. When the original design is right, you do not need to replace it. You refine it.
We think about our own pieces the same way. The Hit Rock Bottom coach jacket in heavyweight, water-repellent cotton twill is not a down jacket and is not trying to be one. It is the layer you wear over a hoodie on a cold, dry evening, and it is made to come back season after season.
